“Otters Underwater” at the Great Lakes Aquarium
Sept 2015 – Jan 2016
I have been painting my otter brains out over the past year, even since I found out I was scheduled to have a show at the Great Lakes Aquarium in Duluth, MN. To say I was excited about this possibility is putting it very mildly. I am the kind of person who has a few goals in life, and who appreciates a deadline as well, and I took this exhibition as reason enough to purchase some rather large canvases (36×36, 30×40, 24×36), big for me, and to paint and think and draw otters as often as I could. My family understood this obsession and supported it, and moved carefully around the dining room when some of the paintings came home with me for continued work. These are some of my favorite paintings to date, which is a good thing, because it means I can keep painting to try to top myself.
These photos are from the hanging of the show on August 29, 2015 in Duluth. You can maybe see how excited I am about it all~
